“Cowboy up”, “men don’t cry”, “work first, play later”, that is what I was taught as a child. It’s how I tried to raise my kids. Avoid emotions, and they don’t get in the way, until they do. The way I was raised really began to affect my relationships, not only with my family, but coworkers as well.
I was introduced to Jacob through a mutual friend who told me that I was NOT fine, and she knew who could help. Jacob helped me realize that my outbursts and stubbornness were a product of me holding on to past trauma. I hate it when Jacob says, “why do you have hooks in that?”. He helped me to see how my reactions, and expecting everyone to be perfect all the time, was killing me emotionally. He has helped me “let go” of expectations and it affecting my relationships.
